Phosphorus is a mineral that represents about 1% of the weight of the human body. We find it in every cell, but especially in bones and teeth, having an important role in their formation.
It also plays an important role in the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats, generating proteins necessary for the growth, maintenance and recovery of tissues. Phosphorus is involved in the synthesis of ATP, the molecule in which the body stores energy. Along with B vitamins, phosphorus is involved in kidney metabolism, muscle contraction, maintaining heart rate and nervous signal transmission. (MedlinePlus / Medical Encyclopedia)
