Under this generic name are found six water-soluble components that act as vitamin B6. As a coenzyme, vitamin B6 performs a wide variety of functions in the body. Extremely versatile, it is involved in over 100 enzymatic reactions, most of them related to protein metabolism.
In its active form, B6 is also involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates and lipids, in glycogenesis and glycogenolysis, in the synthesis of hemoglobin, plays an important role in the functioning of the immune system and in cognitive development.
